Sharon Osbourne Reveals Ozempic-Induced Weight Loss and Goals
Each month, we aim to offer you a well-balanced combination of the latest news (such as dispelling the recent myths about Ozempic) and practical advice you can always utilize, like methods to rectify botched liposuction. Inevitably, there's an enticing headline or viral post that doesn't form a standalone story but is still worth sharing.
This brings us to the current installment of This Month in Aesthetics, a recap of significant industry moments that we would be remiss to overlook – from a Real Housewife's significant weight loss to a news anchor's "revenge" facelift.
Sharon Osbourne Admits Excessive Thinness from Ozempic
The renowned matriarch has been candid about using Ozempic but now states she's had enough. "It's time to stop. I didn't actually want to become this thin; it just occurred," she told Piers Morgan on one of his talk show episodes. Although she's no longer taking the drug, her current aim is to reach and sustain a healthy weight. "I've reached a point of losing too much and must strive to maintain," she informed E! News. "In my life, at my heaviest, I was 230 pounds, and now I'm under 100. I aim to maintain around 105, because I'm overly slender. But I'm attempting to achieve a healthy equilibrium."
Meanwhile, her daughter Kelly Osbourne, who previously disclosed having undergone gastric sleeve surgery, insists that her changed appearance is solely due to the subsequent 85-pound weight loss and not additional plastic surgery. "I've done Botox, that's all. It's strange because now that I've lost weight, everyone is criticizing and trying to figure out what I've done, but I truly just lost weight. It's just the shape of my face!" she told the Daily Mail.
Heidi Montag Recounts Intense Chin Surgery in 2010
It's been over a decade since the former The Hills star underwent an astonishing 10 distinct cosmetic procedures in a single day, yet it remains a topic of discussion. The then 23-year-old underwent (among others) a chin reduction, breast augmentation, a brow lift, liposuction, rhinoplasty, facial fat injections, and had her ears pinned. However, the recovery was far more challenging than she anticipated. "At that time, my surgeon said, 'Oh, it'll be a rapid recovery, a few months.' But it took me over a year to heal, and I could hardly speak with my jaw. I simply had part of my chin sawed off. It was truly a lot to handle," she stated on a recent episode of PageSix's Virtual Reali-Tea podcast.
Tyra Banks on Future Plastic Surgery
"I look in the mirror and don't feel 50. I believe 50 is the new 30s," Banks said in an interview with People prior to her 50th birthday in December. Nevertheless, the supermodel continued by saying that she's not dismissing the possibility of undergoing plastic surgery... just not in the near future. "When I look in the mirror, I don't perceive it. I haven't had age-related plastic surgery yet. I'm not opposed to it. I just haven't had it. Maybe I'll need a little something – I am 50, although I don't feel it yet. But I'm not insecure about it," she further stated. However, in her 2018 memoir, Perfect Is Boring, Banks disclosed that she had a nose job early in her career, saying, "I could breathe fine, but I added cosmetic surgery. I admit it! Fake hair, and I did my nose. I feel I have a responsibility to tell the truth."
Botox, Filler, and Breast Reduction Surging in Popularity
According to the latest data from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, neuromodulators and dermal fillers were the top two most favored minimally invasive procedures last year, increasing by 73% and 70% respectively since 2019. Regarding plastic surgery, while liposuction was performed most frequently, breast reduction witnessed the most substantial increase in popularity, with the number of surgeries rising by 54% since 2019.
Khloé Kardashian Discloses Scarring from Skin Cancer Removal
The youngest Kardashian sister urged her followers to get checked for skin cancer and posted pictures of her bandaged cheek last year. While she didn't outright confirm it was skin cancer at the time, she's now stating it was and sharing how she addressed the scarring that remained.
"For those who don't know, I had a skin cancer scare on my face," she wrote in a series of Instagram stories. She then showed photos of what she called a "small speck of melanoma," along with the stitches left after Beverly Hills, California, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Garth Fisher removed it. "Because we had to remove a tumor from my cheek, I was left with an indentation. I'm definitely not complaining, because I'd rather have an indentation than melanoma any day," she captioned another story where the hollow in her cheek is clearly visible. She went on to show a series of before and after photos, during which the indent was treated with a round of filler injections, adding that she waited nine months to get it filled and only after her doctor gave the go-ahead.
Oprah Winfrey Labels Ozempic as the "Easy Route"
Given that she's arguably the most renowned dieter of all time, it wasn't surprising that Winfrey recently discussed Ozempic while hosting a panel on obesity, stating that she'd wrestled with the decision of whether to take it. "Shouldn't we all simply be more accepting of whatever body we choose to have? That should be our choice. Even when I first heard about the weight-loss drugs, at the same time I was undergoing knee surgery, and I felt, 'I have to do this on my own.' Because if I take the drug, that's the easy way out," she said. Her statement caused a stir online, with commenters noting that if she could truly do it independently, she wouldn't still be struggling with her weight. Others pointed out the hypocrisy in the fact that Weight Watchers, a company in which Winfrey has a stake and where she sits on the Board of Directors, offers an Ozempic prescription program.
Ariana Grande on Stopping Injectables
The 30-year-old singer became emotional while sharing her beauty routine in a video with Vogue. "My relationship with beauty has changed significantly over the years... Full transparency, as a beauty enthusiast, I had a lot of lip filler over the years and Botox. I stopped in 2018 because I felt it was too much. I just felt like hiding, you know?" She then teared up, saying, "For a long time, beauty was about hiding for me. And now I feel like maybe it's not since I stopped getting fillers and Botox and maybe I'll start again one day, I don't know. To each their own. But for me, I was like, oh, I want to see my well-deserved cry lines and smile lines... and I just think aging can be such a beautiful thing."
Julie Chen Moonves Gets a "Revenge" Facelift
The CBS TV personality was candid about her decision to undergo surgery in her new audio memoir, stating that her 2018 departure from The Talk sealed the deal. "You know how some people, when they're broken up with by a loved one, they get a revenge body? Well, I wanted to get a revenge face. Getting the lower facelift was definitely part of 'my job' because I'm expected to look not drastically different from season to season or how people are accustomed to seeing me on TV," she said. She also mentioned that cosmetic surgery felt like a form of healing and a way to prove "these meanies can't bring me down."
Emily Simpson Shows Off 40-Pound Weight Loss
The RHOC cast member admitted that she took Ozempic for a month at the end of last year to "kickstart" her weight loss, followed by a breast reduction and arm liposuction. However, the 47-year-old reality star maintains that her body transformation is now the result of a consistent diet and regular workouts, many of which she documents on social media. "I am the strongest (mentally and physically) right now... at age 47... and I will continue to better myself daily. My only competition is Me," she captioned an Instagram reel detailing her weight loss and fitness journey.
