Hi, I'm looking to permanently remove my beard, some of which has turned white. Is there a preferred removal method that allows for maintenance about once a month?
Given that laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment in the hair follicle, it may not be the best solution if you've lost some pigment. Light or white hair might not respond well to the treatment, leaving you with patchy results. Other non-laser treatments such as electrolysis or waxing could be alternatives. Hair removal treatments are usually scheduled every 4-6 weeks to target new hair growth.
Laser hair treatment targets the pigment in the hair follicle to inhibit growth, making it effective for dark hair. Unfortunately, white hair lacks pigment, rendering laser hair removal ineffective. Other non-laser treatments, as mentioned, may be suitable alternatives, unless you have darker skin. It is important to note that electrolysis can cause discoloration in individuals with darker skin, leading to uneven skin tone. I hope this clarifies the matter. Best wishes!
