It is not unusual for patients who undergo septoplasty to experience prolonged swelling. Most patients will have significant swelling for about two weeks following the surgery. After this period, patients can resume their normal activities and go out in public comfortably. However, swelling may persist for at least one year or even longer in some cases. It takes time for the swelling to completely resolve, so patience is important during the healing process.

Thanks for your question. With an endonasal septoplasty, there should be minimal swelling. However, if the septoplasty was performed using an open approach, the swelling can be significant and may last as long as the swelling from a formal rhinoplasty, which can take 3-6 months to fully resolve.
