It has been 6 weeks since my rhinoplasty, and this is how my nose looks. My doctor said we have to wait for a month, and then we will decide if a revision is needed for my nose at the clinic while I'm awake. I'm very worried, and I don't trust him as he has been changing what he said before. I can't wait and I need to know if this is swelling or something else.

Thank you for your question. Six weeks is too early to make a proper assessment of your final result. You are still in the early stages of the healing process. It is also normal for swelling in one side to go down faster than the other. Typically, the initial swelling after nose surgery subsides within two to three weeks. However, residual swelling, especially in the tip of the nose, can take about a year to fully resolve as the contour refines. Swelling can vary throughout the day, with more prominence in the morning. Patience is key as your nose will continue to change over the next several months.

Congratulations on your rhinoplasty! It is too early, at 6 weeks, to be concerned about the need for a revision. The near picture you shared shows a nice triangular-shaped nose, indicating a successful rhinoplasty. Swelling in the nasal tip is the most pronounced following the procedure and can take up to a year or longer to fully resolve. I would not consider a revision before 6-8 months, if you and your surgeon determine it is necessary.

After nasal surgery, patience is key as swelling and bruising can persist for several weeks. By the end of two weeks, you should start to resemble someone with a bad cold rather than a post-surgical patient. Swelling can take up to a year to completely resolve, but by nine weeks, significant improvement should be visible compared to pre-op photos.
