It has been six days since my surgery, which included a full tummy tuck, liposuction on the hips, back, and thighs, as well as a breast lift with fat grafting. Since yesterday, I have been experiencing constant goosebumps and chills throughout my body. Is this normal?

Infection is a potential risk associated with any surgery. Different types of infections may occur within a specific timeframe. A well-trained and experienced plastic surgeon will be aware of these timelines. For example, fevers or chills occurring six days post-op could be concerning for a lung infection (such as pneumonia) or a surgical site infection. It is best to report your symptoms and concerns directly to your plastic surgeon. Best wishes.

Experiencing body chills six days after surgery could indicate an infection. It is advised to immediately return to your surgeon for further evaluation and appropriate management.

If you are feeling unwell after a procedure, contact your plastic surgeon for an examination to rule out infection or receive appropriate treatment if needed.

If you suspect an infection, speak with your surgeon and monitor for other signs such as fever and general malaise. Antibiotics may be prescribed if necessary.
