I've recently started experiencing generalized itching in my buttocks, which began today on post-op day 8. Today, my stitches were removed, and I am currently applying Bactroban. Overall, the healing process looks good. However, there might be slightly excessive fat transplanted, and I hope that it will subside as the swelling decreases. Nevertheless, I am wondering if the itching, without any rash or systemic symptoms, is something to be concerned about. Thank you for your assistance!
Itchiness after surgery is a common occurrence. It's important to avoid scratching the skin as it can worsen the itchiness by triggering histamine release and increasing inflammation. If you can refrain from scratching, the itchiness should subside over time. Wishing you a smooth recovery.
Hello! Thank you for your question and the information you provided. It is still early in the healing process, and experiencing itching is normal. It is important to avoid scratching the area. If you have any concerns, I recommend closely following up with your plastic surgeon. Good luck!
Itching alone after fat transfer is generally not a sign of a problem. However, if it is accompanied by redness, pain, rash, or fever, it could indicate an infection or other issues. It is recommended to visit the plastic surgeon for a thorough examination and appropriate recommendations.
