I'm approximately 13 days post-op from a nose job, and I've noticed that my nose looks like a pig snout and is upturned, despite explicitly mentioning to the surgeon that I didn't want it to look upturned or pig-like. Will my nose eventually drop? If so, how long does it typically take? Thank you. It's quite embarrassing to go to work and have everyone able to see into my nostrils and observe the stitching.

It is quite common to have an upturned nose after rhinoplasty, particularly with an open approach. Based on my experience, this upturned appearance usually resolves by the 6-week mark, although it may take as long as 6-12 months. If, after 12 months, the upturned appearance persists, a revision may be necessary. At this stage of your healing process, it is best to be patient and give it more time.

During the healing process after surgery, it is important to have patience as the skin, bone, and cartilage undergo trauma. Swelling is a normal response and will eventually subside. Revision procedures can be considered if you remain unhappy with your nose after one year.

It is still too early to determine your final result. Give yourself more time to heal. It is normal for your nose and the surrounding areas to remain swollen for an extended period, and I suggest consulting with the surgeon who performed the procedure. However, allow some time to pass before scheduling another appointment to allow some of the swelling to subside. Keep in mind that it may take up to a year to see the final results.
