Generally, it is rare to see a change in the appearance of the ear after cartilage removal. Care should be taken to avoid excessive removal from the vertical ridge of the conchal bowl, which can lead to ear deprojection. Incisions should be made away from the area where cartilage is removed. It would be best to discuss this concern with your surgeon.

If cartilage was removed from the ear during a rhinoplasty revision, it should not cause long-term problems or the risk of ear collapse. Scar visibility can be addressed through topical gels, laser treatment, or scar revision.

After nose revision surgery with ear cartilage grafts, scar management products such as ScarGuard, Kelo-cote, or Mederma can help minimize visibility. Laser treatment may be considered as a last resort if needed. Softness is common, while distortion of the ear is less common.
