Hi doctor, one week ago, I had a nose injury that caused my nose to become crooked. Three days ago, a doctor performed a reduction to bring my nasal bones back into place. My question is regarding sleeping positions. I have been sleeping on my stomach for years, but I understand I should avoid putting pressure on my nose. When do you think it will be safe for me to sleep on my side or stomach? Could sleeping on my stomach potentially damage the shape or bones of my nose? Thank you so much for your assistance!
The procedure you described, which involves repositioning the nasal bones, is a standard part of rhinoplasty. Assuming a splint was placed on your nose after the procedure, it is typically removed within 7-10 days. Following a similar healing timeline as a traditional rhinoplasty, it is generally acceptable to lay on your side 10-14 days after the procedure, as long as there is no excessive pressure on your nose.
Hi, After 6 weeks post-op, your nose should be sufficiently healed to safely lie down on your stomach. Sleeping on your side may be comfortable after 2 weeks post-op.
