I am 5 days post-op and have been sleeping upright since my surgery. However, my back has started to hurt, so I asked my doctor if I could lie down flat on my back to sleep. Last night, I tried lying down, but a few hours later, the side of my breasts started to hurt, and I couldn't move. Is this normal?
If your implants were placed behind the muscle, it is recommended to sleep in a slightly elevated position for greater comfort. Placing a pillow under your knees when lying on your back can help relieve pressure and discomfort caused by the implants pressing against the muscle and vice versa. Over time, as your muscles relax and tissues stretch, this discomfort should gradually improve.
Hello! Thank you for your question. At your current stage, inflammation and discomfort are normal, especially after lying down for the entire night. If the symptoms do not improve over time, it is recommended to closely follow up with your plastic surgeon. Best of luck!
Discomfort when lying flat is common during the recovery phase. Elevating the head with pillows can help alleviate the discomfort, which should improve as healing progresses.
