I've read online that it's recommended to wait at least 6 months after a tummy tuck before getting a navel piercing. However, I'm curious about the worst that could happen if I were to pierce my navel 6 weeks after the tummy tuck. Additionally, are there any risks associated with piercing your navel if you have a hernia?

The worst-case scenario is that you could compromise the otherwise excellent result you have achieved. This can include bleeding, impaired blood supply, tissue necrosis, and thickened scars. While these risks are unlikely, it is still possible, and the earlier you consider this action during your recovery, the greater the risks become. I strongly advise against it without consulting your own plastic surgeon. Ideally, you should wait at least 3 months or, even better, 6 months before considering something like this. If you have a hernia or suspect you have one, you should not have a piercing under any circumstances. It is crucial to address the hernia before considering a piercing. Without a hernia, I recommend waiting for 3-6 months after a tummy tuck. However, if there is a hernia present, it is extremely risky to pierce your belly button. Please avoid doing so.

I agree with the fourth vote that getting your belly button pierced at 6 weeks after a tummy tuck is still too soon. Concerns include the risk of infection, compromise of tissue blood flow, and poor healing. Since this is an elective procedure, it is best to wait 3-4 months before getting it done.
