I went tanning after getting botox and I think I might have messed up. The area where I got botox injections is swollen. Is that normal? I’ve been using cold compresses to make it go down but it seems like every time I go tanning, the area swells up again.
While tanning beds are discouraged for various reasons, there is no direct relationship between Botox and tanning beds. If you're looking for a tan, spray-on tans can produce the same or even better results than tanning salons. I've personally tried them and have been completely satisfied!
While tanning beds should be avoided, it is rare for Botox injections to cause swelling. If swelling does occur, it can last from a few hours to a few weeks. Applying cold compresses can temporarily reduce swelling, but the heat from tanning-bed sessions can potentially trigger its reappearance. If the swelling persists, it is advisable to consult your doctor.
Some swelling at the injection site is normal after Botox/Dysport treatment, and it is unlikely to be caused by the tanning bed. However, it is advisable to avoid tanning beds for other reasons such as skin cancer and premature aging.
Minor swelling from Botox injections usually subsides within an hour or two. Tanning beds are not recommended as they can lead to premature aging. If swelling persists, it is advisable to consult with the injector for further evaluation.
