I'm currently at the 7-week mark since my tummy tuck, and I have three stitches that keep protruding. I have been trimming them, but on one hip, it feels very sore and bruised. Exposed stitches do not heal because they are seen as foreign bodies. It is best to have them painlessly removed instead of trimming them short. The stitch wound will then heal rapidly. It is not uncommon for sutures to develop small abscesses around them after a tummy tuck, which may result in spitting them out. Consult with your surgeon for guidance.
