I am using Retin-A/Differin to treat scars and indentations on my face, as well as for general skin maintenance.

For most of my patients, I recommend starting a daily topical retinoid regimen a month after completing Accutane. This regimen helps keep the pores clear and reduces blemishes and acne scars. As always, it's best to consult with your board-certified dermatologist to determine the best regimen for your specific needs.

Many of my patients find it challenging to tolerate topical tretinoin while on Accutane due to dry skin, especially during harsh weather conditions. Typically, I recommend restarting topical tretinoin 1-2 months after completing Accutane treatment, if desired. Starting with a pea-sized amount every other night on the affected areas of the face is a good approach, gradually increasing to nightly application as tolerated.

You can start using mild forms of Retinoids (Atralin, Differin cream 0.1, or Retin-A 0.04 microgel) while on Accutane. It is recommended to combine it with a moisturizer, such as Cerave PM, to make the regimen more tolerable. Using a Retinoid while on Accutane may help clear blackheads and whiteheads.
