I had incisions done around the areola, and my doctor instructed me to wear steri strips for 4 weeks and a surgical bra day and night. Towards the end of the day, I find it painful to have anything touching or pressing down on the incisions. I still need to take Percocet for the pain, whereas in the second week, I didn't require it anymore. Is this level of pain and sensitivity expected? Are there any over-the-counter medications available to help with this discomfort?

You are probably experiencing nipple hypersensitivity, which is very normal after a breast augmentation, irrespective of the type of incision used. Light touch, heat or cold, or even a slight breeze can cause the nipples to feel painful. We typically recommend using nursing pads or soft gauze within the bra to help cover and protect the nipples during the recovery process. This hypersensitivity will likely normalize over the next several weeks.
