In my extensive experience of over 23 years and performing over 4000 cases, I have encountered only 3 seromas, all of which healed without further surgery. I have never used a drain in liposuction procedures. The risk of developing a seroma is extremely low with traditional liposuction, and it's worth noting that the use of a drain can increase the risk of infection, although this aspect is often not mentioned. I recommend consulting with several local board-certified plastic surgeons in your area to find the one with whom you feel most comfortable. Best of luck in your search. Some surgeons prefer no nail polish on your nails as it may interfere with the oxygen monitor. It is best to consult your surgeon regarding their preference. Personally, based on my experience with numerous liposuction and Brazilian butt lift procedures, I have found the use of a Jackson-Pratt drain for 4-5 days post-surgery to be highly beneficial in facilitating the drainage of excess fluid. I strongly believe in the use of drains, and all my liposuction and BBL patients receive one. Thankfully, the incidence of seroma formation has been nearly zero in my practice.
