My doctor advised me not to touch the treated area for 24 hours and to sleep on my back. It hasn't been 24 hours yet and I've accidentally rubbed the treated areas a few times before realizing what I was doing. During the night, I turned on my side, which is my natural sleeping position. Now I'm worried that my actions may have moved the Botox and I'll end up with droopy eyes and eyebrows. Do you think this is likely?
Thank you for your question! While I advise patients to avoid strenuous activity on the day of treatment, it is generally safe to touch the treated area within hours without significantly affecting the outcome. You can resume your normal daily activities and enjoy the results as they gradually take effect. Best of luck!
First and foremost not worry. Normal activities such as touching your face, washing it, applying sunscreen or makeup, will not affect the effectiveness of Botox in any way. Even if you were to touch your face immediately after the injections, it would not be a problem. Problems with Botox usually arise when there is prolonged, firm pressure applied to the skin, such as lying face down for an extended period or wearing a tight hat for several hours. Rest assured, your Botox will be fine.
After Botox treatment, it is recommended to avoid heat exposure, alcohol consumption, strenuous exercise for 24 hours, and lying flat for 4 hours. Massaging the treated areas should not affect the results, but specific recommendations should be obtained from your doctor.
Post-treatment instructions may include remaining upright for 4 hours, avoiding makeup for 2 hours, exaggerating facial expressions in injected areas, avoiding strenuous exercise, and refraining from massaging or manipulating injection sites for 24 hours. Cold compresses can be used for swelling reduction if needed, and results are expected to start within 2-10 days and last for 4-6 months on average.
