I have rarely seen new stretch marks develop in breasts after implant placement or in the abdomen after a tummy tuck. While it is technically possible, it is highly unlikely. Therefore, I, along with the other physicians mentioned, believe that the marks most likely existed prior to the procedures.

The stretch marks you currently have may have been present before but are now more visible due to swelling and inflammation that occur after surgery, resulting in redness. Unfortunately, there is no effective treatment for stretch marks, and you will likely have to wait for the healing process to see how they finally resolve. Consulting with a dermatologist experienced in laser treatments may be beneficial, as lasers can sometimes help improve the appearance of stretch marks. Good luck!

Stretch marks are caused by rapid stretching of the skin, such as during pregnancy. It is rare for a tummy tuck to cause stretch marks, but it can make existing stretch marks more noticeable.

New stretch marks after abdominoplasty can occur due to the process of pulling the skin tight during the procedure. However, it's also possible that the stretch marks were already present but less noticeable.
