About a month and a half ago, I had CoolSculpting done on my double chin. However, I've recently noticed the development of flabby skin in the area. I'm concerned that this may be a lasting side effect and that it could worsen over time. I'm only 31 and don't want to have a "turkey neck." Can someone please let me know if this is a normal reaction to CoolSculpting on the double chin and if it eventually goes away?
Hi and thank you for your question! We have seen great results with CoolMini, including skin tightening. It is possible that there was some loose skin in the treated area, which is more noticeable as the fat diminishes. However, the skin should continue to retract, and full results can take up to 3 months. If the issue persists and bothers you, you may consider a skin tightening treatment. I recommend following up with the practice after the 3-month mark for a comparison of pre and post-treatment pictures. Best regards, Dr. Grant Stevens.
It is normal for the skin under the chin to feel slightly loose after fat removal. CoolSculpting, although designed to treat fat, has been shown to tighten the skin as well. However, skin tightening takes longer than fat reduction, so improvements can be expected over time. In the meantime, you may consider Skin Tyte (infrared light) by Sciton to help tighten the skin more quickly.
CoolSculpting allows the fat to slowly flush out, giving the skin time to retract. Radiofrequency treatments and the use of a neck cream can further enhance tightening results.
CoolSculpting can help improve skin elasticity issues and has been FDA cleared for reducing lax skin under the chin. It is recommended to wait for the full duration to see the final results, with retreatment potentially providing further improvement.
