I had BodyTite Liposuction almost four weeks ago. Pre-procedure, I was 158 pounds and stand at 5'7". My skin wasn't saggy, but my surgeon thought my skin elasticity was only moderate, not great, but that Radiofrequency-assisted liposuction (RFAL) would likely work well for me. He removed 1200ml of fat from my hips and flanks and 1000ml from my abdomen and mons. Nearly all the swelling has subsided and I'm 6.5 pounds lighter. However, my abdominal skin is loose. It looks normal when I stand, but when I sit, it appears loose, soft, and squishy. If I squeeze my lower abdomen, it resembles the skin of a 90-year-old, extremely crepey. I don I won't be seeing my surgeon until the 16th week post-operation; in the meantime, I have been seeing the nurses. They keep reassuring me that my skin will tighten, but I'm genuinely worried that it won't. Given that it was supposed to slightly tighten during surgery and continue to do so in the following months, yet appears looser than before the surgery, is this a cause for concern?
I understand your frustration, but it's important to be patient and give it more time. The full effects of tightening can take up to six months to occur, and it's not uncommon for some patients to not respond immediately. Four weeks postoperative is still too early to accurately assess the results. I would recommend not worrying and allowing more time for your body to heal. With patience, you have a good chance of achieving a satisfactory outcome. Best wishes to you.
Thank you for your question. When performing liposuction, it's important to explain to patients that removing fat can lead to some deflation of the skin, resulting in slightly looser skin. If a large volume of fat is removed, the degree of skin laxity may be more pronounced. This is typically more of a concern in the abdomen compared to the waist or lower back. Both BodyTite and a tummy tuck are reasonable options to address this issue, and the choice depends on the expected degree of skin laxity. BodyTite, which I have been using for a few years now, produces excellent results. However, it is important to note that the majority of skin tightening occurs within the first 6 months, with slight additional tightening up to a year.
