It's been three weeks since I had a breast augmentation, and I'm curious about how implants can move towards the armpits. Is it due to pectoral workouts? If that's the case you have any tips to avoid this issue?
Implant displacement is a known undesirable outcome in some breast augmentations. It can occur when implants are properly selected but lack sufficient postoperative support for the breasts. In some cases, patients may request or not mind when the implant shifts towards the side of the chest, commonly referred to as "side boob." This occurs when the implant width is excessive, aiming to create cleavage and display some implant on the side. When implants are placed above the muscle, there is less tissue to prevent this from happening. In my experience, choosing the appropriate implant and providing good postoperative support with a bra can prevent this undesirable displacement. I prefer Caromed bras for their stabilizing effect, guiding the implant in the desired direction while preventing unwanted movement. Surgically, I aim to make the pocket only as large as necessary for the implant to be inserted and stay in position without folds. The goal is to keep the implant in the desired site without excessive pocket size. During revision procedures, the pocket for the implant is often larger than the implant itself. This allows the implant to shift considerably, creating a fixed and permanent issue with the excessive pocket. The surgical correction involves tightening the sides of the pocket to maintain a more central location for the implant. To maintain the position of the implant, it's crucial to wear a properly fitting bra, preferably one prescribed by your plastic surgeon. If displacement occurs, the surgical correction is not difficult.
Hello, thank you for your question. The implant displacement into the armpit may occur due to insufficient lateral tightening of the pocket or due to patient preference for a "side boob" appearance, requesting wider implant placement.
Implant positioning can be influenced by various factors, including tissue strength, chest wall angle, and implant dimensions. These factors can contribute to implants shifting to the sides over time. However, the position of implants should not be affected by exercise, as long as the surrounding tissues have good elasticity. Poor tissue elasticity or a naturally wide chest wall can increase the risk of implants migrating to the sides over time.
I'm like, have you lost your mind? Will I lose volume or fat cells due to this?
