I underwent the removal of my 16-year-old silicone breast implants, which were approximately 350cc in size, along with a simultaneous breast lift. However, I have noticed that my right breast has loose skin and wrinkles just below the nipple. I am 56 years old, in good health and shape, and have good elasticity for my age. I had expected the lift to prevent this deflated appearance, but I'm concerned that it may persist. Will the skin fill in or retract over time, and how long can I expect this process to take?
In general, the skin may not tighten sufficiently without an in-person examination.
Typically, after silicone breast implant removal, the skin does not fully shrink. A breast lift may help, but if the skin has not tightened within 6 months, it is unlikely to do so further. Sometimes, tissue is also removed during implant removal, which can contribute to the soft tissue becoming looser.
Dear patient, after any surgical procedure, a period of six months is necessary for the tissues to settle and take their final shape, especially in cases where multiple surgeries have been performed. In general, tissues retract and fill in after settling due to surgical trauma, although the extent may be less if they have been previously stretched for a long time, such as during pregnancy. If the issue persists and continues to bother you after this time, a minor scar revision can easily resolve the problem without significant concerns. I hope this information is helpful. Thank you.
Congratulations on having your implant removal surgery. One of the roles of breast implants is to address the deflated look of the breasts. Regrettably, a lift alone may not entirely correct this deflated appearance. Given the lack of photos and a physical examination, it's difficult to provide specific advice in your situation. I would encourage you to discuss your concerns with your surgeon.
