It has been 6 weeks since my mini tummy tuck. Three weeks ago, my lower abdomen became huge due to a seroma. So far, the doctor has drained 440cc of fluid. I'm experiencing a lot of pain in my right groin area, and it hurts to walk. Could this be caused by the seroma?
It would be best to discuss your situation with your surgeon. While there is a possibility that the seroma is related to your symptoms, it is more likely to be a nerve compression. In most cases, these issues resolve as swelling subsides and sutures dissolve. Pain related to the presence of a drain usually disappears after the drain is removed. It is recommended to consult with your surgeon for further guidance and support.
I suspect that the soreness in your nerves is likely due to irritation along one of the nerves in the lower part of your tummy tuck area. This should improve over time unless you experienced it immediately following the surgery. The presence of a hematoma or seroma can also contribute to nerve irritation, but your Plastic Surgeon can provide reassurance that it should improve as the seroma settles and resolves. Best of luck to you.
Discomfort related to a seroma is unlikely to be caused directly by the seroma itself but could be due to pressure on a nearby nerve. As the surrounding inflammation subsides and the fluid collection stops, the discomfort should improve. Discuss your concerns with your surgeon for further evaluation.
