I've had my lips injected with Juvederm Ultra three times. I naturally have thin lips, and my top lip had a downward curve. My concern is the shadow or fullness above my top lip. I specifically requested not to have my vermillion border injected to avoid a "ducky" look. This is a common problem when the goal is volume expansion rather than enhancement and reshaping of the lip. Unfortunately, it can also occur when the injector agrees to create overinflated lips that are aesthetically unpleasing. Even if the filler is injected in the correct plane, the excess volume spills over into the surrounding tissue. The abnormality can be corrected by strategically injecting hyaluronidase to remove part of the filler. Good luck!
If the treatment was performed less than 2 weeks ago, the swelling you are experiencing could be related to the injections. It is also possible that too much filler was placed at the upper margin, causing the appearance you are concerned about. I recommend following up with your injector to discuss your concerns. If excess filler was used, it can be reversed using hyaluronidase.
Final results of injections can take 1-2 weeks to fully manifest. If it has been more than two weeks and you are unsatisfied with the results, hyaluronidase can be used to reverse the filler.
Excessive material injected above the lip can cause a shadowing effect. Hyaluronidase can be used to correct this issue.
